Smiths Falls Mayor Dennis Staples says the town’s senior administrative official has taken early retirement.
The town announced on Friday it was informed that Wayne Brown had retired as Chief Administrative Officer, effective the same date.
Staples told Lake 88 this morning that Brown had been on a recent extended vacation and had advised the town of his decision to retire early. He's said he's been employed by the town for 13 years and has been involved in many of the town's significant undertakings.
"Council" he said, "wishes Wayne the very best in his retirement."
Staples said council members will likely discuss the process to replace Brown at their regular committee meeting this evening. Whether an interim CAO will be appointed in the meantime, he said, has yet to be decided.
