A body was pulled from the St. Lawrence River on Saturday afternoon.
In a statement to the CBC, Det. Sgt. Tom Fournier said St. Lawrence Park and its beach were closed for several hours after the body was found near the west dock.
Other emergency officials quickly attended the scene. Fire officials helped police pull the body from the water and park-goers were kept away. Yellow police tape soon cordoned off an area.
The body has been taken to Ottawa where an autopsy is scheduled to take place tomorrow.
There has been no ID or even a gender of the deceased released as of yet. No other information is expected to be released until after the post-mortem determines the cause of death. Police will also learn if the death was caused by foul play.
For now, anyone with information on the situation is asked to contact Brockville Police.
