Overall traffic was up on the Rideau Canal this season.
To the end of August, the total number of boats making their way through the system was up 1.5% from just over 51,500 last year, to almost 52,300 this year.
It could have been better, had it not been for a dry August that may have kept some boaters away.
August saw numbers dip in the southern sector of the corridor from about 10,900 last year to just over 9500 this season. Across the system, numbers for the month were down 3.4%.
The lower water levels in the southern sector may have discouraged some boaters from travelling too far, with most limiting themselves to the Big and Upper Rideau Lakes.
Gains were seen in the Central section for the month though, with an increase of more than 300 vessels in the area.
