UPDATED – Province announces $8.75 million for expansion to emergency department at Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital

It’s been a long time coming, but today at 1:30 p.m. the Honourable Minister Eric Hoskins, minister of health and long term care, announced that the province is investing $8.7 million into Carleton Place Memorial District Hospital.  The funds will go towards building a new 9000 sq foot emergency department.

Two Smiths Falls residents facing drug charges after search warrant

Smiths Falls police executed a warrant at a home on Beckwith St. North, last Saturday, October 22nd, looking for drugs.

Police seized over 70 grams of cocaine, 20 grams marijuana, various pills and drug related paraphernalia.

Three vehicles were also seized as a result of the search warrant.
