Smiths Falls Crossing Guards to keep closer eye on drivers

December 29, 2016 by

School crossing guards in the Town of Smiths Falls have been instructed to start recording the licence plates of vehicles that aren’t coming to a complete stop while people are crossing the street.

Director of corporate services and town clerk Kerry Costello says drivers continue to put the safety of the school crossing guards and students at risk.

In an effort to improve community safety, she says crossing guards have been issued new LED stop sign paddles, and are recording the licence plates of all vehicles that aren’t coming to a complete stop or who are otherwise putting their safety at risk.

Smiths Falls police officers are monitoring crossing zones as well.
