Freezing Rain falls in our listening area

January 3, 2017 by

freezing-rain-warningIt may not be the news you wanted to hear as you head back to work. Many are hitting the roads this morning after the holidays, and they are being greeted by freezing rain, leading to icy, slick conditions.

The freezing rain warning issued by Environment Canada will remain in effect until late this morning (Tuesday) or early this afternoon.

The freezing rain itself is expected to continue throughout the morning hours, before changing to rain by late morning or early afternoon.  2 to 5 mm of freezing rain is likely with some spots seeing a bit more.

We’re reminded that highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will be icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Slow down driving in slippery conditions, and maintain a safe following distance.
