Essential items are needed to help newcomers to the shelter.

Lanark County Interval House is appealing for donations for the women and children they help.

The group said in an appeal to the public, that when women are fleeing abuse, they often do not have time to grab all of their belongings from their home.

That is why Interval House provides welcome baskets to women and their children when they first arrive to the shelter.

The organization is currently in need of items to put in the baskets.

This can include things like notebooks and pens, and personal hygiene products like a hair brush, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrush, face cloths, and deodorant.

If you’d like to help out, you can drop off a donation  to the “As Good As New Thrift Store” found at 33 Bridge Street in Carleton Place.

You can also call 613-257-3469 x 27 or email fundraising@lcih.com to make another donation arrangement.
