UCDSB_logoThe Upper Canada District School Board of Trustees received the final set of recommendations contained in the Final Staff Report of the Building for the Future Pupil Accommodation Review on February 15, 2017. This public meeting was hosted at North Grenville District High School and was livestreamed in accordance with standard practice at all Board Meetings.

The Building for the Future  Pupil Accommodation Review began with a draft Initial Staff Report presented to school board trustees in September 2016. This updated Final Staff Report presents the final recommendations to the Board of Trustees and will be voted upon by the Trustees at a Special Board Meeting to take place on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at North Grenville District High School.

“We are thankful to the public for the feedback received throughout this process. We would also like to thank the Accommodation Review Committees and staff of the Upper Canada District School Board who worked tirelessly to draft this final report after two rounds of public consultations and over 6600 survey responses. This report shows that the public’s voice was heard about how to improve our school system,” said Chair Jeff McMillan. “We are committed to hosting one further public meeting on March 2, 2017 (and an additional delegation meeting on March 1, if required) to seek public input on these final recommendations and enable us to make decisions that will allow us to best serve our students in a sustainable way. I want to stress that no decisions have been made at this point and this report is only a recommendation. The final decision now rests with the Board of Trustees on March 23rd.”

“The input received through the ARC process has allowed us to better understand the views of parents and community members regarding how our school district should be serving students given the revenue that our school board receives from the province of Ontario. I would like to extend my thanks to all of the members of the ARC committees, those who shared their views with us, and the staff who worked diligently to ensure that the final recommendations reflect the voices of the public,” added Director of Education Stephen Sliwa.

The Board will make final decisions about its accommodation review on March 23, 2017 at a Special Board Meeting scheduled at North Grenville District High School, which will be open to the public and will also be livestreamed for viewing.

The Upper Canada District School Board has been continually updating its Building for the Future web page to keep our communities informed throughout the accommodation review process.
