Three month booking option nixed at Last Duel Campground in Perth

March 17, 2017 by

last-duelStill working on turning Last Duel Park’s finances around,  Perth Council has approved a staff recommendation to eliminate the three month campsite reservations option.

Up until now campers could book a campsite for five months, three months, monthly, weekly, or daily.

But, as of March 15, 2017 the three month option no longer exists for serviced or un-serviced campsites.

“There is a five month camping season at Last Duel Park, and people were booking the campsites at the three month rate and occupying sites in June, July and August and leaving the shoulder months  empty,” said John deRosenroll, Perth CAO.

The three month rate was just shy of 60 per cent of the five month rate, but was taking several campsites out of circulation for the rest of the season

It’s hoped that with the new booking structure there will be fewer sites left empty during the shoulder months and more turnover, in line with the town’s tourism objectives

This is just the first of several measures that will be rolled out over the coming months, according to deRosenroll as staff work towards making the park more financially viable.
