Lanark Asks Province To Support Local Strategy To Address Opioid Overdoses

April 27, 2017 by

Lanark County council passed a resolution last night requesting the province to support a local strategy to address the escalating risk of opioid overdoses and death.

The motion comes after council heard from the Medical Officer of Health Dr. Paula Stewart.

The County request includes the enhancement of local services for first responders dealing with suspected overdoses and the distribution of more Naloxone kits to deal with overdoses.

The county points out there have been 24 opioid related deaths since 2010 and 7 in the last year alone.
