Lanark County Cottage Legacy Program Deadline Coming Up

April 28, 2017 by

Cottagers in Lanark County have just a few days to get their applications in to qualify for a Legacy Cottage Plaque.

The deadline is Monday, May 1. To be eligible for a plaque, cottages must have been in the same family for 50, 75, 100 or 125 years.

Local resident Kay Rogers told Lanark County’s economic development committee Wednesday night that she has received 108 application. One cottage on Mississippi Lake has been in the same family since 1852.

The plaques cost $60 and will be presented by the county warden and township reeve likely at lake association meetings.

Applications can be found at the Lanark County website. Completed applications can be dropped off at the Tay Valley Administration building 217 Harper Road.

Tay Valley is operating the legacy program on behalf of Lanark County.
