Public Fentanyl awareness session tomorrow evening in Perth

May 1, 2017 by

The Upper Canada District School Board, the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario, and Leeds, Grenville, and Lanark District Health Unit host another public meeting to promote community awareness regarding the Fentanyl and opioid crisis.

It takes place tomorrow evening at 6:30 p.m. at St. John Catholic High School.

A joint release says the session will offer an opportunity for students and parents to learn about counterfeit drugs, overdose response and prevention.

The session is open to all, not just students and parents.

Fentanyl is a powerful, synthetic prescription opioid that has been linked to a growing number of overdoses and overdose deaths across Canada.

A street version of the drug has also been linked to a number of deaths including several in our listening area over the past months.
