SmithsFallsThe 48th Smiths Falls Citizen of the year banquet is being held this year at the Royal Canadian Legion on Wednesday the 31st of May, and organizers have announced that all proceeds are being donated to the victims of the Pearl Street fire.

The event honours individuals who have made a significant contribution to the town in past years, through volunteer efforts that have had a positive impact on fellow citizens and the community.

Each year a different service club takes on the banquet and this year the Rotary Club of Smiths Falls is hosting the event and covering the cost of the dinner, so that every penny from the sale of tickets will be donated to the victims of the fire.

Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at Smiths Falls Town Hall or the Smiths Falls and District Chamber of Commerce.

They join a host of groups offering to help the victims including local businesses and Canopy Growth which donated $10,000 to help the victims.
