Perth's Jared Coreau pulled out all the stops Saturday night helping his Grand Rapids Griffins defeat the San Jose Barracuda in game five of the best of seven series and clinch the AHL's Western Division championship.

Coreau turned away 39 shots in the 4-2 winning effort. Coach Todd Nelson praised Coreau's performance, “He was unreal. He stopped the breakaways. He gave us a chance to win.” Coreau was named the game's first star for his efforts.

The 6ft 6 netminder has an 11-2 record in the playoffs with a 2.41 goals against average and a .922 save percentage.

The Griffins now move on to the finals of the Calder Cup and face the Syracuse Crunch in a best of seven series.

The first two games will be played Friday and Saturday night in Grand Rapids.
