Carleton Place outside (600x450)Discussion about the Carleton Place Arena change room renovation project continued at this week’s council meeting.

Councillor’s passed a motion to tender the change room project only in early 2018. That means renovations will not start until at least next spring. This is a big adjustment since Mayor Louis Antonakos said he hoped renovations would start in 2017.

Carleton Place Canadians general manager Jason Clarke asked councillors to consider a temporary solution. He asked about installing a portable trailer as a temporary change room right outside the arena.

Clarke said this extra space is needed to accommodate the number of people who use the arena at the same time. Council passed a motion to support the idea of the trailer but they are waiting for Clarke to come to back to them with further information about the cost before giving him the full go-ahead.

Deputy Mayor Jerry Flynn called the portable trailer a great temporary solution.
