RCAF_CC-150_Polaris_DaviesIn celebration of Canada’s 150th Birthday, the Town of Perth will welcome a flyby by the RCAF 1 Canada Air Division CC-150 Polaris.

The plane will be making a special appearance in the skies over Downtown Heritage Perth. Perth is the only local community to receive teh honour. Other than Ottawa, the next closest fly-by will take place in Brockville.

On Saturday, July 1st, at approximately 1:20pm, the aircraft will make at least one pass over the Tay Basin in Perth’s downtown at just 1000 feet.

The CC-150 Polaris is a multi-purpose, twin-engine, long-range jet aircraft. It can be used for passenger, freight or medical transport and air-to-air refueling. It’s big too - It can carry up to 194 passengers.

All five of Canada’s CC-150 Polaris aircraft are stationed at 8 Wing Trenton, Ontario. During its years in service, the Polaris fleet has transported vast amounts of supplies to Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) personnel deployed on missions all over the globe.

Residents are encouraged to step outside, or visit the downtown and Tay Basin area on Saturday, July 1st to see the giant aircraft close up.
