Rideau Valley Conservation Authority Updates Water Levels

July 14, 2017 by

The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority says that after high levels in April on Rideau watershed streams and lakes, constant rainfall has kept levels above normal,as well as in the Tay Valley watershed, although not to the same extent as the lower Rideau.

Big Rideau, Upper Rideau, Wolfe and Bobs Lake are presently close to the respective targets. The outflow from Bobs is still slightly above normal.

The RVCA says the impact of the rain is obvious with ponded water on farm fields, some golf courses and homes and buildings are contending with seepage through basement walls and floors.

Ditches and streams have high flows and stream banks are slippery, so caution is needed for all.
