Play structure taking shape in Westport park

Westport ParkThere’s another big change at Lockwood Park in Westport.

The village held a work bee on Saturday that saw one huge hole dug in the ground, 60 cedar long logs, sunny autumn weather and the hard work of 9 amazing volunteers turn an empty spot into the skeleton of a new playground.

Mayor Robin Jones says on her blog that next week the hole will be filled with stones and then the finishing touches can be done to the structure.

She also notes that it should be avoided for now as it is still a construction area.

The park has been one area of focus for the village this year as they strive to create a warm multi-use public space. They have added a walking path throughout, and the cenotaph was recently moved to the site as well.
