Rainfall WarningFrom Environment Canada - 5:16 AM EDT Monday 30 October 2017
Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • Smiths Falls - Perth - Eastern Lanark County

Rain, at times heavy, continues.

Rain will continue through the morning with total rainfall amounts of 75 to 100 mm expected by this afternoon. The heaviest rain is expected to fall early this morning. Rain will then gradually taper off to scattered showers this afternoon.

Strong west to northwesterly winds near 80 km/h are also expected to develop this morning. Given the presence of leaves on some trees, these high winds may cause broken tree branches and power outages. Winds will weaken early this evening.

The heavy rain and strong winds are the result of an intense low pressure system that will track northward over eastern Ontario and into Quebec later this morning.

For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry District office.

If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
