Canadian Blood Services continue donor need – clinic set for Perth today (Mar. 12)

March 12, 2018 by

blood_squareCanadian Blood Services says the national inventory and days on hand of several blood groups remain at critically low levels.

Last week the group said donations are still urgently needed to continue to meet patients’ needs.

Spokesperson Rick Prinzen says, “We’ve had an increase in donations across Canada since Feb. 20 when we urged 35,000 new and returning donors to give blood.” But, floods in Ontario hampered efforts to replenish the national blood supply to levels they need.

Given its short shelf life, the need for blood is constant.

The group says making an appointment to donate has never been easier. To find a nearby donation site visit, download the GiveBlood app or call 1-888-2-DONATE.

There is a clinic scheduled to take place today at the Civitan in Perth from 1-7.

If you didn’t book in advance, they say walk in appointments are welcome.
