RCMP Musical Ride to visit Smiths Falls in May

April 17, 2018 by

Musical RideThe Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be bringing its Musical Ride to the town of Smiths Falls.

The announcement comes after a meeting of Smiths Falls town council where plans for the iconic event were announced.

Councillor Jay Brennan told Lake 88 that council is excited for the event which has been a long time coming.

“This application goes back to 2011. In fact, my mother, who used to be on council here and was on the heritage house committee, initiated it. So it’s been kept in the fire this long and finally we’ve got it this year. It’s another feather in the cap for Smiths Falls.”

The Musical Ride, which sees a full troop of 32 riders and their horses performing intricate drills choreographed to music, takes place in nearly 50 communities across Canada. In 2016 the Ride made a stop in Perth (pictured).

The Smiths Falls show will take place the afternoon of May 27th with further details coming from council as soon as they are available.
