SIU invokes mandate after incident in Almonte sees local woman injured

siuThe Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding a serious injury sustained by a 64-year-old woman in Almonte.

Yesterday morning, at about 10:15, two Lanark County OPP officers went to a home to conduct an investigation.

The SIU says they were on the porch when two dogs came out of the home and bit them. One officer shot her gun multiple times at one of the dogs, but a bullet hit a 64-year-old woman who was also on the porch.

The woman and both officers were transported to hospital for treatment. The dog died at the scene.

Four investigators and three forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have information that can help them to please call 1-800-787-8529.

The Unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence to upload that video through the SIU website, siu.on.ca.
