Lanark County Police Report

News From OPPBetween Monday July 2nd and Monday July 9th, 2018 officers from the Lanark Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 388 calls for service.

The calls included 29 Motor Vehicle Collisions including:

3 Car / Deer

11 Parking Lots

4 Single Motor Vehicle off Road ("In Ditch")

Allegedly Impaired Drivers

At 08:02pm on Wednesday July 4th officers conducting radar speeding enforcement on Highway 7 in the Municipality of Mississippi Mills stopped a Ford pick-up truck. Kevin Beck (47 years) of Alnwick-Haldimand Township is charged with:

  • One (1) Count Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80mgs of Alcohol per 100mls of blood

Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He was released to appear at the Provincial Court in the Town of Perth.

At 02:00am on Saturday July 7th, officers patrolling the Town of Carleton Place were called to a single motor vehicle collision on Townline Road West at the intersection with Flora Street. On arrival the officers discovered a Hydro Pole collapsed into the street and a Ford passenger vehicle with severe front end damage stopped in the road with wires fallen across it. The vehicle was empty with all four doors left ajar. Officers interviewed witnesses and as a result of investigation, Elizabeth BRUNTON (45 years) of the Town of Carleton Place is charged with:

  • One (1) Count Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80mgs of Alcohol per 100mls of Blood
  • One (1) Count Driving While Impaired by Alcohol

Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

She was released to appear at the Provincial Court in the Town of Perth.

At 01:01am on Sunday July 8th officers patrolling the Town of Perth stopped a Buick passenger that was traveling on Craig Street with only one headlight functioning. Kenneth PAIN (53 years) of the Town of Perth is charged with:

  • One (1) Count Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80mgs of Alcohol per 100mls of Blood

Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He was released to appear at the Provincial Court in the Town of Perth.

At 3:55pm on Sunday July 8th officers responding to a report of a pedestrian on Hwy 7 in Beckwith Township saw a Chevrolet pick-up truck in the south ditch near the intersection with Cemetery Side Road. The vehicle had its rear in the ditch and the driver appeared to be trying to drive out onto the highway. Lech BIENASZ (57 years) of the City of Ottawa is charged with:

  • One (1) Count Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80mgs of Alcohol per 100mls of Blood
  • One (1) Count Driving While Impaired by Alcohol

Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He was released to appear at the Provincial Court in the Town of Perth.

Domestic Incidents

At 03:59am on Sunday July 8th, officers were called to the Independent Grocers store in the Municipality of Mississippi Mills, regarding an incident that had occurred earlier at a residence on George Street. As a result of the subsequent investigation a 29 year old man from the Municipality is charged with:

  • One (1) count of Assault

Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He was released to appear at the Provincial Court in the Town of Perth.

Officers dealt with four other calls relating to unwanted communication.
