Perth monitoring water levels closely, residents asked to voluntarily reduce consumption

July 11, 2018 by

News From PerthThe Town of Perth is working with the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority (RVCA) to monitor water levels in the Tay River due to the lack of rain and subsequent decrease in water flows in the watershed.

Perth staff are working on several fronts to optimize municipal operations to lessen impacts on water demands while maintaining operations. Residents are asked to voluntarily reduce water consumption in areas of lawn watering and vehicle washing.

Significant rainfall over an extended duration is needed to impact the diminished watershed reserves. RVCA staff will continue to monitor conditions and communicate with water managers throughout the watershed via the Rideau Valley Water Response Team.

The municipality will continue to monitor water levels in the Tay and Rideau River watersheds and communicate with stakeholders to optimize water usage.

Residents and businesses can monitor conditions through local media, the Town of Perth website www.perth.ca and the RVCA website www.rvca.ca.
