HmPg_PDC-ipadDay-1PEP Seniors Therapeutic Centre (Perth Enrichment Program for Older Adults) is pleased to announce that they will be offering a Thursday Senior Day Program in Smiths Falls.

The successful PEP Senior Day Program has been offered in Perth for over four years. PEP has continued to grow to meet the needs of seniors in the Perth community while striving to support their desire to stay at home longer. The Smiths Falls day program is supported in part by United Way Lanark County.

“One of United Way Lanark County’s priority goals – Successful Aging – is to help ensure seniors are able to stay in their homes and remain engaged in the community, while all caregivers feel supported,” notes Advisory Council Chair Helen McIntosh. “Programs like the one run by the Perth Enrichment Program for Older Adults helps those seniors in need within our community. The United Way is excited about the expansion of PEPOA’s programs from Perth to Smiths Falls, made possible with funds from our very generous donors. We look forward to seeing their new program succeed.”

The Smiths Falls Senior’s Day program will run every Thursday from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm at 91 Cornelia Street W, Cornelia Court, Suite 110, Smiths Falls. The Smiths Falls program will mirror the already successful program being offered in Perth, four days a week.

PEP offers a therapy centered program for its participants which includes socialization, physical and cognitive therapy and activities which will improve function and emotional stimulation. Participants receive a mid-morning snack, and a hot lunch each day they are at the program for the cost of $35.00 per day.

The day program has two primary goals directed toward the enrichment of the lives of both the participants and their caregivers; (1) to enhance and/or maintain the functioning level (physical, social, emotional and cognitive) of older adults on an individual basis in concert with input from their healthcare providers and family, and (2) to provide respite, encouragement and education for family/caregivers of our participants.

“The Board and staff of PEP are very excited about introducing our senior day programming to the Smiths Falls and area community. We value the support we are able to offer our clients but also the support that we are able to give the caregivers of our participants stated Pauline Fitchett, Executive Director, PEP. A huge thank - you to United Way Lanark County for their support of this new program.
