Smiths Falls bears sold to Filoso brothers of Ottawa

sFBears-large-1038x576There are new owners for two local junior hockey teams.

The CCHL Tier 1 Smiths Falls Bears and Tier 2 Westport Rideaus have been sold to Nicholas and Joshua Filoso of Ottawa.

As the new owners, the Filoso brothers say they look forward to developing new players and creating an exciting and enjoyable experience for fans in the area.

"We are really excited to be involved with the Smiths Falls Bears and the Westport Rideaus," said the brothers in a statement. "We look forward to continuing the strong releationships with the people in in both communities who support the teams, including volunteers, sponsors, billet families, and fans."

Outgoing owner Chris Cassell said in the same release, "Selling teh Smiths Falls Bears and Westport Rideau was a difficult decision, but I felt it was time to pass the torch to a new owner."

Cassell made a point of thanking the coaches, trainers, scouts, volunteers and communities of Smiths Falls and Westport for the support they had shown him and the hometown teams over the last 12 years.

He also wished both teams success in the future.
