New owners mix up coaching staff with the Bears, stay the course with the Rideaus

24155385_CCHL600The new owners of the CCHL Tier 1 Smiths Falls Bears and Tier 2 Westport Rideaus, Ottawa brothers Nicholas and Joshua Filoso, have already made some major changes ahead of the upcoming season.

Joshua Filoso just finished his CCHL playing career last year as Captain of the Tier 1 Ottawa Junior Senators, while old brother Nicholas is currently working in Calgary.

The Filosos have named Alex Armstrong as the Bears new Head Coach and General Manager.   Armstrong has spent time coaching with Brockville Braves, the Trenton Golden Hawks and at RMC in Kingston.

Former area NHLer Rob Dobson will remain as assistant coach with the Bears.

In Westport, Bundy Seed continues as General Manager, with Jeff Snow remaining as head coach of the Rideaus.

Former Bears head coach Mark Grady will be coaching an all-star team from the CCHL in this month’s Junior Club Sirius World Cup in Sochi, Russia.

Longtime Bears' Assistant Coach Walt Dubas has accepted a coaching position with the Brockville Braves, while Tom McLaren moves to the Kanata Lazers.
