Re-branding process underway in Carleton Place

Carleton Place Construction copyVisitors to Carleton Place may soon have a different image of the community as town staff and council have begun the process of updating the town’s branding.

Tuesday’s Policy Review Committee included a marketing strategy presentation from Cat’s Cove Communications which has been tasked with revitalizing the town’s image and refreshing its decade-old “Meet Me on the Mississippi” branding.

The presentation introduced Councillors to the first draft of a marketing plan which will attempt to show off more of what the town has to offer to visitors and residents, along with changes to how those assets are marketed online.

Councillors had a lot of input on the presentation and some like Councillor Sean Redmond, are hopeful that the town’s rich history will become an integral part of attracting people to Carleton Place.

“One of the biggest brands we have is our history and our heritage," said Redmond. "I really feel that, moving forward with re-branding, we need to show people that and tell people about that. There’s an awful lot of historical tours and tourism coming now and history is a huge draw to any municipality," added the Councillor.

Cat’s Cove Communications’ presentation was received as information and they will be presenting to council again after incorporating their feedback.
