A commuter bus service serving Smiths Falls may be a key to attracting new residents to the town.
Smiths Falls community marketing co-ordinator Kim Leach says her office gets regular inquiries from Ottawa residents about whether regular commuter buses serve Smiths Falls. She says many people near retirement want to relocate to the town, but also want to commute to the city by bus. Non-profit Lanark Community Transit, which has operated from Carleton Place since May, is considering expanding to Smiths Falls. The town wants to know how many people are interested in the bus service. Those interested should contact town hall. Councillor Chris Cummings has been talking to the transit group about bringing the service to Smiths Falls. Tickets for the service can also be used on OC Transpo buses. |
