Several projects in the Rideau Lakes, Lanark, Leeds and Grenville area are on the receiving end of close to $400,000 out of $1 million in community grants from the Trillium Foundation.
Among the not-for-profit and charitable organizations approved for grants, the Youth Action Committee of Perth and District – better known as YAK – will receive $68,000 for a full-time applied arts co-ordinator to launch a program increasing opportunities for youth, especially youth at risk. The program will develop life and work skills. Other grants announced this week include $75,000 to the Carleton Place Canoe Club to promote canoeing, kayaking and dragonboating. The Elgin and Area Heritage Society will get $26,000 to improve community access to the heritage Red Brick School. Other grants will go to the Westport Arts Council for purchase of sound, lighting and stage equipment, to the North Grenville Accessible Transportation and to Communty Living of North Grenville. |
