Illegal cigarettes strewn on E. Ont. roads in police chase

Thousands of contraband cigarettes were scattered over eastern Ontario roads after a police chase yesterday that started in the Merrickville area, leading through Smiths Falls and ending up on Highway 401 near Kingston.

Smiths Falls issues warning after Giant Hogweed plants found

Smiths Falls has confirmed reports of the highly noxious giant hogweed on private properties in town. It's posted a warning on the town's website, cautioning residents to not touch the plant.
