Body recovered from Mississippi Lake after car goes through ice
The body of the victim from yesterday’s car going through the ice on Mississippi Lake has been recovered.
Lanark County OPP say he was a 31 year-old man from Drummond North/Elmsley. His name has not been released.
The Volkswagen he was in went through the ice on the lake early yesterday morning near Craig Shore. Another man in the car managed to get out and is being treated for hypothermia.
It hasn’t been released which person was driving the car and police say the investigation into the circumstances is still active and ongoing.
Lanark OPP are satisfied that the incident involving the car and another involving a side-by-side ATV going through on the same lake are completely unrelated.
Three people were in the ATV and left the scene, they are all okay.
Another incident Friday on Dalhousie Lake saw an ATV go through thin ice. However a local retired firefighter leaped into action and saved the riders.
