Extreme Cold warning continues

by | Jan 22, 2019 | Local News | 0 comments

Environment Canada’s Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect for our listening area.

As a result, Student Transportation Eastern Ontario has cancelled school buses. They do not want kids outside waiting for buses in this extreme cold.

The weather agency says wind chills near minus 35 will improve beginning later this morning as temperatures slowly rise. We expect the temperature to rise to -12 this afternoon, dip to -14 overnight, then go all the way up to zero tomorrow.

Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes. Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
