Lanark County Police report

Between Monday, February 4, 2019 and Monday, February 11, 2019 officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 332 calls for service.

The calls included:

Motor Vehicle Collisions: Total:27 Including:

Car / Deer: 3
Single Motor Vehicle off Road (“in ditch”): 5

Shortly before 11:00 p.m. on February 4, 2019, Officers from the Lanark County OPP responded to a collision involving a transport truck and two other vehicles near McNeely Avenue and Highway 7 in the Town of Carleton Place. After locating and stopping the transport truck which failed to remain at the scene, the driver, Amandeep WRAICH, 39 year old of Brampton, ON was charged with failing to remain at an accident and issued a summons for Provincial Offences Court in Perth, Ontario.

After several complaints from concerned drivers regarding the driving of a truck driver, Lanark County OPP officers located the vehicle at 5:30 a.m. on February 7, 2019. The driver, Mariel FORTIN, 60 year old of Gatineau, QC was charged with careless driving.

Domestic Incidents: 5
Around 7:30 a.m. on February 4, 2019, officers from the Lanark County OPP assisted by officers from the Sharbot Lake OPP responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence on Crow Lake Road in Tay Valley Township. As a result of the investigation, a 31 year old female was arrested and charged with assault (spousal) and released from custody on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear on March 25, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth.

Break and Enters: 3
Overnight of February 9, 2019, unknown culprits broke into a Gas Station on Highway 511 in Lanark Highlands Township. Cash and cigarettes were stolen. Officers from the Lanark County OPP, assisted by members of the OPP Forensic Identification Unit, attended to investigate. Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact the Lanark County OPP Detachment.

Mischiefs: 3
On February 4, 2019, Officers from the Carleton Place OPP responded to a report of assault and mischief by a youth female at a residence on Bridge Street in the Town of Carleton Place. After officers located the female, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, she was arrested and taken to a bail hearing at the Perth Ontario Court of Justice on charges of assault and mischief under $5000.
