Six month review of new arrangement for Lanark County’s housing services management presented
At the Community Services Committee meeting for Lanark County Council held on March 13, Director of Social Services, Emily Hollington provided a 6 month review of the new arrangement for housing services management.
Last summer County Council approved turning over the administration of the Lanark County Housing Corporation to their social services department.
Hollington reported that this move has ended much of the confusion among the public and even some staff as to who was responsible for what and has permitted a reduction in duplication of services and roles. It has turned this public service into a one-door operation.
HR, payroll, and IT operations are now controlled by one set of policies and county council is the single controlling authority through their community services committee. This has achieved annual savings of $300K while streamlining services to the public.
Hollington added that the transition has been smooth and positive and is allowing faster action on housing goals such as the new development in Carleton Place.
