Lanark County OPP report

Between Monday, May 6, 2019 and Monday, May 13, 2019  officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 497 calls for service. 

The calls included 22 Motor Vehicle Collisions including seven involving deer, three in parking lots, and three single vehicle off road (in ditch). 

Impaired Drivers – 0

Domestic Incidents – 3
A 28 year old male resident of Carleton Place, Ontario has been arrested and charged by the Carleton Place OPP after a domestic incident on May 8, 2019 around 5:30 p.m. The male who cannot be identified in order to protect the victim was charged with two counts of Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm and Mischief. The male was released on a Promise to Appear with Undertaking and has a scheduled court date in Perth on June 17, 2019. The female victim sustained minor injuries.

Break and Enters – 1

Thefts – 13
On May 11, 2019 at 11:00 p.m., after witnessing a male attempting to enter several vehicles on Miguel Street in Carleton Place, Ontario, a concerned citizen called the Carleton Place OPP who attended to deal with the matter. Ryan SINNICKS, 19 years of age of Carleton Place, Ontario was located, arrested and charged with four counts each of Theft Under $5000.00 and Trespass by Night. He was later released from custody on a Promise to Appear with Undertaking. A court date has been scheduled in Perth for June 10, 2019.

Officers from Carleton Place OPP received a call regarding a vehicle fire on Graham Road in Ashton Station, Ontario on May 6, 2019 around 6:30 p.m. No one was in the vehicle but four males were seen in the vicinity. Police investigation showed the vehicle to have been stolen out of Quebec on May 4, 2019.

Anyone with information regarding this theft and mischief is asked to contact the Carleton Place OPP or Crime Stoppers.

Mischiefs – 3
Damage was sustained to the prisoner box at the Perth Courthouse on May 6, 2019 and several OPP Special Constables received minor injuries after a prisoner became upset while in the courtroom. Officers from the Lanark County OPP Detachment were called to assist with the male prisoner. Roger BOYER, 38 years of age was charged with Mischief, Assault with a Weapon and Assault Police. He remains in custody pending a scheduled court appearance in Perth on June 3, 2019.

Frauds – 4
Lanark County OPP wish to remind community members about fraudulent phone and or email encounters. No legitimate business or government agency will ask you to purchase iTunes or GOOGLE gift cards as payment. Also, no legitimate bank, financial institution or credit card company will call you to advise of suspicious activity on your account and then “deposit” funds in your account for you to withdrawal. Never allow anyone remote access to your computer or electronic devices.

Liquor Licence Act Charges – 3
At 1:00 a.m. on May 11, 2019, Officers from the Lanark County OPP attended an address on County Road 511in Tay Valley Township regarding a fight with multiple persons. The subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest and charge of Dylan ADRAIN, 19 years of age of Westport, Ontario for Being Intoxicated in a Public Place. He was held in custody until sober and released with a Provincial Offence Notice.
