Local youth set to represent Canada at Envision’s Global Young Leaders Conference
16 year-old Calum Theobald from Beckwith Township has been chosen to serve as Global Scholar.
Calum, a grade 11 student at Notre Dame Catholic High School, will join outstanding high school students from across the U.S., Canada and the world to take part in a unique academic development experience, the Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC), taking place in Washington D.C. and New York City in July.
The GYLC (sponsored by George Mason University) is one of the Envision family of programs (www.envisionexperience.com) that enable students to explore their interests and experience learning beyond the classroom.
Calum’s invitation to represent his school and country as a Global Scholar places him among a very select group of top students across the world.
The GYLC is a 10 day leadership journey that helps students explore the diplomatic, social and economic lessons of the past, debate the policies of the present, and prepare for a position of national and global leadership in the future. Attracting the most motivated students from across the United States and more than 145 countries, the program prepares students to succeed in multicultural environments.
Calum was recognized on the basis of his high academic achievement at school and through the SAT selection process.
Calum is eager to seize the opportunity to represent his school, community and country, as well as to learn and challenge himself on the international front. He is ecstatic to embark on this journey as he dares to envision and work toward a better community, a better country and a better world.
