Holy Name of Mary School Child Care in Almonte to opens thanks to Provincial Funding
Through funding provided by the Ministry of Education to the County of Lanark and the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario, 63 new child care spaces are now available in the Municipality of Mississippi Mills.
The child care centre which is located at Holy Name of Mary school in Almonte is licensed for 48 preschool age children and 15 toddlers. It opened its doors yesterday (December 2, 2019).
A statement from Lanark County says in part, “The creation of these new licensed child care spaces is made possible due to the County’s shared commitment and partnership with the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario and the Province of Ontario to provide investments in the early years aimed to increase quality, accessibility, affordability, flexibility and inclusivity.”
In its 2019 Child Care and Early Years’ Service Plan, Lanark County identified the need to increase child care spaces in high pressure areas; Mississippi Mills being one of them.
The new program will support Mississippi Mills in addressing this issue. Families rely on infrastructure being in place to offer quality child care for their children to enable parents to work. The County’s Children’s Services department is committed to increasing access to child care for more families.
