One-day teachers strike set if deal isn’t reached today
By all accounts its sounds like Monday was not a productive day in the ongoing talks between high school teachers and the province.
That means it is looking quite likely that the one day strike by the secondary teachers in public schools will go ahead tomorrow, though they still have one more day to hammer out a deal.
If the strike goes ahead, it will affect students in the Upper Canada Board, locally.
Union President Harvey Bischof says reaching a deal in time to avoid the strike seems unlikely and he accused the government of refusing to budge on cuts.
Education Minister Stephen Lecce tells a different story though and says the government is being flexible and he called on the union to do the same.
Talks are scheduled to continue today.
