Budget deliberations in Perth delayed
Although Perth’s town budget is almost complete, council members decided to defer the next budget deliberation meeting.
That meeting was originally scheduled for January 7th, but has now been to a yet-to-be-determined date in February.
Deputy Mayor Ed McPherson told Lake 88 News the delay is just to make sure that everyone on council has a full understanding.
“We are pretty much are ready to go,” said the Deputy Mayor, “But for the past several days some Councillors have had more questions, so we want to have time to get together and make sure we have all the answers.”
Back in November McPherson told Lake 88 the 2020 budget was a ‘stand pat’ budget from last year, but that he was urging council members to spend time with the treasurer, to gain a better understanding of the entire budget process. That process is ongoing.
