Mayor Black looks back on 2019 in Carleton Place
As another year comes to a close, Carleton Place Mayor Doug Black (pictured below), took a moment to reflect on the year that was 2019 during Tuesday night’s council meeting.
Mayor Black, addressing council and members of the public at town hall, reviewed the highlights of the first year of this new council’s four-year term.
From approving cannabis stores in Carleton Place, to the grand opening of Carleton Junction Park, to hosting ambassadors from Iceland, the Dominican and South Korea, it has been a very busy year for the town.
Mayor Black tells Lake 88 that this new council’s first term had a lot of good, and he’s hoping that momentum will carry on into 2020 and the rest of their term.
“I feel we’ve had a very successful year. We’ve had a lot of good opportunities to build more on the community side than just building houses,” said the Mayor. “I have nothing but good feelings for last year and I know, going into 2020, that it’s going to continue. We’re in very good shape and i’m very excited to be here. I don’t know if there is a better time I could have chosen to be mayor than this term.”
The next meeting of Carleton Place council will be on January 14, 2020.
