Update on Bridge Street redevelopment in Carleton Place
The next phase of beginning to reconstruct Bridge Street in Carleton Place is almost ready to commence, and council is hoping to take care of some last minute cost analysis.
During Tuesday’s committee of the whole meeting, council discussed their plan to engage RV Anderson Associates to proceed with two community consultations, meant to help with preparing for the repairs.
During that discussion it was revealed that the preliminary cost estimate for the reconstruction of Bridge Street was going to be around $2.4 million.
In previous talks on the matter, council had hoped for a cost of closer to $1.4 million. They were prepared for the costs to be more than that, but the final number now has council searching for ways to hopefully, lessen the economic impact of construction.
RV Anderson is currently set to present the preferred approach for the project during a Public Information Centre on January 27, 2020.
Council agreed to revisit the project in the new year, ahead of that meeting, to see if there are any savings to be found.
