Carleton Place Approves Budget
The town of Carleton Place has approved its budget for 2020 after the bylaw bringing in their plan for the year was passed at this week’s council meeting.
After much discussion and meetings that were open to the public, the town of Carleton Place has finally settled on the particulars of its 2020 budget, which was voted in during.
The year ahead will include a levy increase of 1.99% for municipal purposes. That increase translates to an extra $35.25 per year based on homes valued at $273,750 dollars, which is the median home value for Carleton Place based on 2019 statistics.
That will allow the town to collect a little over 11 and a half million dollars to fund various endeavors. The town has been hit with increased operating pressures such as the price of contracts with the OPP and Waste Management going up, while funding avenues like the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund have gone down.
