Smiths Falls Police Service taking steps to limit risk of COVID-19 transmission

by | Mar 17, 2020 | Local News | 0 comments

During these unprecedented times the Smiths Falls Police in the interest of Public Safety and the safety of our first responders will be implementing a very brief screening questionnaire.

For anyone attending the Smiths Falls Police Station, you will see advisories posted at the main entrance. In Non-emergency situations, Members of the public will be asked a few short questions regarding travel and health. These same questions will be asked when you call in requesting a police officer attend your location. When officers attend a scene, they may ask these questions for everyone’s safety.

Officers are equipped with personal protective equipment and may choose to wear them if the situation requires.
If a matter is not of an urgent nature we will suggest an officer not attend and follow up with a return call and take the report over the phone.

If the matter is an emergency, please dial 9-1-1 and a police response will be dispatched.

We would like to thank our community for their patience and understanding in keeping your police service personnel safe and our proactive approach to preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
