The following was submitted by the Smiths Falls Police Service.
Male arrested for breaching conditions
On Tuesday May 19, 2020 at approximately 6:19 p.m., police located and arrested a 26 year old male suspect, of Smiths Falls for breaching his release condition. Investigation revealed that the suspect failed to notify a change of address with police as set out. While searching the suspect, police located a quantity of a controlled substance on his person.
The suspect stands charged with the following: Possession of a Controlled Substance x2, Breach of Probation x2 and was held for a bail hearing to answer to these charges.
Disturbance leads to arrest
On Thursday May 21, 2020 at approximately 12:05 p.m., police responded to a residence on Sussex Street for a report of a domestic disturbance. Investigation revealed that a 26 year old male suspect had engaged in a verbal argument with his girlfriend. The suspect was found to have several outstanding warrants for his arrest issued by the Sudbury Police Service and a Committal warrant issued from the North East jurisdiction.
The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest and later transported to the Brockville Jail.
Male arrested for breaking into Police parking lot
On Sunday May 24, 2020 at approximately 3:16 a.m., police located Alexander DOE, a 26 year old male suspect of Smiths Falls, inside the secure parking lot of the Police Headquarters. The suspect attempted to flee on foot and a short foot pursuit ensued. While attempting to effect the arrest on the suspect, he was able to escape officers and break free. The suspect then entered the driver’s seat of a fully marked cruiser and proceeded to rev the engine. While being removed from the cruiser, the suspect resisted and assaulted officers. Officers were able to gain physical control of the suspect and placed him under arrest.
The suspect stands charged with the following: Break and enter, Mischief under $5000.00, Escape lawful custody, Resisting arrest x2, Assaulting a Peace Officer x2, Attempted theft of a motor vehicle.
The suspect was held for a bail hearing to answer to these outstanding charges against him.
Female arrested for domestic assault
On Sunday May 24, 2020 at approximately 2:36 p.m., police were called to a residence on Lanark Street for a report of a domestic disturbance. Investigation revealed that a 39 year old female resident had assaulted her partner. Police located and arrested the suspect at the scene.
As a result the suspect is charged with one count of Domestic Assault and she was later released by way of an Undertaking and Promise to Appear in Court.
Male arrested for mischief
On Monday May 25, 2020 at approximately 12:18 a.m., police were called to a residence on Bourke Street for a report of mischief. Investigation revealed that a 71 year old male suspect, of Smiths Falls, caused damage to a nearby parked vehicle for an unknown reason.
The suspect was arrested, stands charged with Mischief Under $5000.00 and was released on scene by way of an Appearance Notice.
