Perth waving fees to help local businesses

by | May 29, 2020 | Local News | 0 comments

In order to support Perth businesses, Town Council has passed a By-law to waive all parking, sandwich board sign, merchandise display and busking fees until the end of 2020.

Council has also extended the parking time limit from 2 to 4 hours for the remainder of the year.

This extension allows more time for customers to shop, but will be enforced on the downtown streets to ensure that there is no long term parking in order to keep those spots open for patrons. All parking fees in municipal parking lots are also waived under this By-law, so residents and workers in the downtown are asked to use the parking lots instead of parking on the streets.

Council is supporting the waiving of these fees to help Perth businesses weather the storm of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor John Fenik states “By passing these changes, our businesses can benefit from easier access for their customers and relief from paying fees for sandwich boards and merchandise displays. This is a very difficult time for them all and we want to support them however we can.”
