Cooling centres open in Smiths Falls and Carleton Place

The cooling centre at the Legion in Smiths Falls will be open today between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. to help people safely beat the heat. COVID-19 safety protocols are in place and staff will be on hand to ensure users are screened prior to entering. Water and public washrooms will be available.

Anyone experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 will be referred to an assessment centre for evaluation. Residents will be required to sign in prior to entering the centre.

In Carleton Place, a cooling centre will be set up in the Bob Rintoul Hall at the Neelin Street Community Centre from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Next week it will be at the Library in Carleton Place: on Monday and Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Anyone attending a cooling centre will have to have a mask or face covering.
