Perth Mayor Fenik’s show of support for Medical Officer of Health and local Health Unit supported by Lanark County
At the Lanark County Community Services Committee virtual meeting held on Wednesday evening, Councillors voted on a motion put forward by Perth Mayor John Fenik in support for the local health unit and Dr Paula Stewart in recognition of their tireless work on behalf of all area residents.
Mayor Fenik stated that with recent comments from MPP Randy Hillier that run contrary to the health unit’s pandemic advice, he felt it was time to recognize the continuous efforts put forth by Dr Stewart and her team to fight Covid-19.
He noted that a huge debt of thanks was owed by all for their crucial actions that have helped keep our communities safe.
He added that county council should encourage all residents to continue to follow public health guidelines such as mask use, proper distancing, and rigorous hygiene. This, he stated was for everyone’s safety and stressed the need to continue to work together to help control the spread of the virus.
The committee passed the motion which will now go to the next full council session for ratification and distribution.
Mayor Fenik later commented about the motion in a statement on Facebook.
