Update on Lanark County Social services provided for Councillors
At Wednesday’s Lanark County council Community Services Committee meeting, Director of Social Services, Emily Hollington provided an update on her office’s moves to deal with the new normal while delivering supports that have seen a dramatic increase in requests as a result of the current pandemic.
Hollington reported that county social services were in the middle of their second phase of reestablishing operations and that while all office doors remained locked, they were staffed and open to provide in-person service to those in need or who don’t have access to remote options.
She noted all people are being screened for adherence to health and safety protocols.
While emergency supports such as emergency child care, rent bank and others continue as they did during the provincially ordered lock down, other programs which were paused recently were being relaunched.
These include Renovate Lanark, Ontario Works Participation Agreements, Developmental Support Services, capital projects on social housing units, new tenant leases, and others.
She added that child care centres are reopening under new strict guidelines with very limited capacity.
