UPDATED: Lake 88 Radiothon for local hospitals raises $102,767 – Thank you for your donations!
Lake 88 is proud to announce that more donations have trickled in since the conclusion of the Lake 88 Radiothon last Thursday, resulting in a new, revised total of $103,767.00 raised for our local hospitals and frontline healthcare workers.
Socially distanced cheers erupted in Almonte, Carleton Place, Smiths Falls and Perth as Lake 88 President Brian Perkin announced the revised total on Monday morning.
The total is the result of a unique effort to raise funds for our local hospital foundations during the pandemic. Representatives from the hospital foundations serving the Almonte General Hospital, Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital and the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital took donations and took to the air last Thursday from 6am – 6 pm, either over the phone or via Zoom to hold the second annual radiothon.
The money will be used to help the hospitals purchase much needed equipment to support frontline workers by giving them the tools they need.
Here are just some of the current needs that money donated yesterday will help to purchase.
Almonte General Hospital:
28 new Intravenous Pumps at $5,000 each ($140,000)
CT Scan unit to provide medical imaging ($2.2 million)
Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital:
Electrocardiogram (ECG) to test heart rhythm ($26,000)
Obstetrical bed for gynecological and maternity patients ($21,757)
Fetal Heart Monitor for babies ($36,382)

Bedside monitors for Perth and Smiths Falls emergency rooms ($105,752)

All involved in the Radiothon want to offer our sincere gratitude to all who donated.
